chilly paws dreaming for spring

last night i got a phone call from my sister sharing some exciting news. she's having a girl. mitch and i get another niece. naturally with my current crochet projects i can't help but dream of making something special for her baby girl.

our single digit temperatures keep continuing.... the news has warnings about excessive time spent outside will lead to frost bite! i feel bad for the boys. their energy levels keep building and it's been below freezing at any given point through the day and they are unable to run their energy out. not only that but i'm nervous about the snow on their paws. cezar seems to be most affected by it the last day or so. nanna has been having an incredibly hard start to the year and is looking forward to february.... i'm praying february brings slightly warmer temperatures.

my excitement for spring is building. especially since i've been going through our order acknowledgements. i'm looking forward to all the new plant arrivals at our store. not to mention i'm beyond giddy for the building of a succulent and cactus selection. they tend to be one of my plant loves. plus i'm eager to grow my edibles garden. anyone up for growing blueberries?? how about raspberries?? i'd love to help spread the 'green fever'.

the clock is calling me to work.... my chickies are most likely waiting for their hot water for their 'morning tea' and the cold store is waiting for my presence. and another day compiling the spring book for the register.

Black Friday and a Merry Indie Christmas

I spent my morning at home and in bed.

Mitch and I decided to forgo Black Friday shopping.

{except we totally waited on our computers last night to snag a lighting deal on Amazon}

Crowds really aren't our thing.

I was even productive at one point today...

Cezar got a bath

{he smells so yummy now}

I finally vacuumed the crawl space for Mitch

did the dishes

and made room in our fridge to thaw our 20lb turkey for Sunday.

Mitch got off a bit early this afternoon

so we headed out to see if we could pick up a few deals on Christmas goodies.

We checked a few things off our list :)

Now for some bloggy love.

I'm not the most crafty or make it yourself kind of person.

BUT 

I do appreciate all the darling, amazing, talented ladies who have such fabulous shops.

I look forward to shopping them....

and welcome Christmas season!!

A much needed day of nothing...

Black friday - generally means crazy people running around trying to get all the things they want / think they need. Yes there are good deals but why in the world get up insanely early to run around with all the crazy people?! I worked black friday once upon a time... very interesting and very tiring. I realized its too awful when your working the register (I was working at Sears) but knew that I wasn't the one who'd be the shopper. The following year I was a nanny and really enjoyed being home and no where near the shopping scene. Last week my mom offered to cover the shift at the store for me. Sanna had plans with Mr. Alaska and I truly needed a few days off for myself. I needed some time to feel like myself again. So today I slept in (8:30 ish) and spent pretty much the whole day in bed!! :) Do you ever wish you could do that and actually get away with it? I do - ALL the time. LOL and today I did it! Read the family newsletter, watched some tv, browsed the internet, rented 2 movies, cuddled with the boys, folded laundry and cleaned up my thanksgiving decorations. OH MY GOODNESS I feel SO rested!! I am grateful for sleeping in, avoiding all black friday-ness and being lazy :) Here's to another day off - tomorrow.... maybe I'll get Christmas up and my mojo will be offically back :)

PS I really like Eat, Pray, Love. Great movie - I recommend it!
