A breath of fresh air.

Mitch and I are a couple of sickies. Nasty cold for me and a mean sore throat for hubby. Sad day.
I slept in til 9:30. Laid in bed for awhile. Finally talked myself outta bed. I took the boys with me to run to the bank, and grab a Pepsi. It's been about 4 weeks since I got a 32 oz. kudos me. When we got back home, we crawled back into bed and continued our lazy morning til 1 :) it was amazing.

My to do list was calling. {have you downloaded the new ios5 for the iPhone yet?? Love the reminders app!!} I was able to deep clean the kitchen. Do some dishes. Put away my canned tomatoes. Pick up puppy poo, double mow the backyard {it was a jungle}. Sweep out the garage and put some stuff away in the shed for the winter. Sorted laundry and cleaned up my side of the closet. Vacuum. Roast some more Chilis. Started decorating my front porch. It feels great getting some things checked off my list!!

But now it's back to bed. With Cafe Rio for dinner :)

Surprisingly this is the most on-top-of-things I've felt in a very very long.

Can we get a YAY?!!!

People -  it's Friday and better yet... it's Friday Night!! I said my good byes to work  and jumped in my car and drove home. Once home I quickly changed my jeans for a comfy pair of pajama pants and let the boys out. Now for some snuggles with my darling little men while I wait for Mitch to come home from his meeting. What do we have in store for Friday night you ask?? Nothing. Well nothing at the moment and I quite like the idea. A lazy evening followed by a relaxing Saturday.... sounds exactly like what I need.

Do you have anything exciting planned for your weekend?

Silence anyone?

A quiet day

I've been super exhausted lately. Perhaps it's because I'm always busy and working. Not to mention the summer heat that has finally decided to stay. Days off are filled to the brim with to do lists like - laundry, cleaning, dishes, cooking is always a good idea, mowing, weeding, loving of the boys {not that I find that challenging. I quite enjoy doing so}. No wonder days off never feel like days off.

So today, seeing that I had it off, I made sure to make it feel like a day off.

Silence. Silence is what I was needing and missing. I decided that it was a NO TV day for me. It's always our go to in the evenings to unwind.... Today was going to be different. Sometimes I find that I forget to enjoy the silence of my home.

Laying in bed enjoying the birds singing outside my window, my sweet boys playing quietly outside, enjoying my morning Pepsi, catching up on my favorite blogs, email, etc. Morning snuggles with my boys, running to the bank with my boys for company, making car payments with Mitch on his lunch break, quick bite to eat. {Mitch wasn't a fan of the no TV while he was home... I turned it off as he returned to work} Reading my new glamour, falling asleep with my boys, waking up for their potty break, checking on dinner, crawling back into bed. More napping. Waking up to Mitch's call. Off early. Only to go back for overtime at 7. Drink run, followed by delicious BBQ pulled pork sandwiches :) I tuned the TV out as Mitch relaxed for awhile. Now I'm enjoying a quiet evening to myself with the boys of course.

Do you know what I learned from my day of quiet?? It's that I don't do this nearly often enough. Perhaps I'll be better at turning off the TV and doing something else. Focusing on quality time as a couple, re-reading my favorite book 'Merle's Door' {I highly recommend it} plus other good books and resting my mind from mindless TV drivel.

The plus side from today:: I feel much more rested and more relaxed.

You should try it some time!

Sprite and crackers

I was telling Mitch the other day that the only way I'd spend a day in bed is if I got sick.

I woke up feeling miserable and unbelievably sick to my tummy. Figured it was probably just the new birth control.

Water made me feel even sicker, same with Pepsi. I made it 2 hours into worked and puked. Chase and Andrea insisted I go home and they could manage til 1 when Nanna got there. Thanks guys!! I stopped at the store and grabbed sprite and saltines PLUS giant softball sized grapefruit. Made it home and lost my stomach again.

I spent the rest of the day sleeping and Laying in bed. Looks like I caught the stomach flu

:( Mitch had it last week. Hopin I feel better tomorrow!!

A lazy morning

I remember as I was growing up, my mom loved her peace and quiet.... even if it meant the kids were making a mess. This morning I've enjoyed sleeping in til 8, watching the Good Wife off the DVR, I'm on my 2nd Vanilla coke already and just like my mom - I've enjoyed the quiet at the expense of this mess. LOL. I think its time for me to find them some new toys :)

I'm proud to say though that I have been doing well with my goals. I've managed to cook the last few days :) Last night I came home and put some bacon in the oven to cook {I hate cooking it in a pan, Mitch is the only one who will cook it that way} and then made my favorite waffles! YUMMY!!! As for my other goals... I'm working on 'em.

Recipe:

Hart Oh Boy Waffles

2 1/4 sifted flour

4 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

1 1/2 T sugar

2 beaten eggs

2 1/4 C. Milk

3/4 C salad oil

Combine and enjoy!

A much needed day of nothing...

Black friday - generally means crazy people running around trying to get all the things they want / think they need. Yes there are good deals but why in the world get up insanely early to run around with all the crazy people?! I worked black friday once upon a time... very interesting and very tiring. I realized its too awful when your working the register (I was working at Sears) but knew that I wasn't the one who'd be the shopper. The following year I was a nanny and really enjoyed being home and no where near the shopping scene. Last week my mom offered to cover the shift at the store for me. Sanna had plans with Mr. Alaska and I truly needed a few days off for myself. I needed some time to feel like myself again. So today I slept in (8:30 ish) and spent pretty much the whole day in bed!! :) Do you ever wish you could do that and actually get away with it? I do - ALL the time. LOL and today I did it! Read the family newsletter, watched some tv, browsed the internet, rented 2 movies, cuddled with the boys, folded laundry and cleaned up my thanksgiving decorations. OH MY GOODNESS I feel SO rested!! I am grateful for sleeping in, avoiding all black friday-ness and being lazy :) Here's to another day off - tomorrow.... maybe I'll get Christmas up and my mojo will be offically back :)

Big contented sigh :) ah

PS I really like Eat, Pray, Love. Great movie - I recommend it!
