Silence anyone?

A quiet day

I've been super exhausted lately. Perhaps it's because I'm always busy and working. Not to mention the summer heat that has finally decided to stay. Days off are filled to the brim with to do lists like - laundry, cleaning, dishes, cooking is always a good idea, mowing, weeding, loving of the boys {not that I find that challenging. I quite enjoy doing so}. No wonder days off never feel like days off.

So today, seeing that I had it off, I made sure to make it feel like a day off.

Silence. Silence is what I was needing and missing. I decided that it was a NO TV day for me. It's always our go to in the evenings to unwind.... Today was going to be different. Sometimes I find that I forget to enjoy the silence of my home.

Laying in bed enjoying the birds singing outside my window, my sweet boys playing quietly outside, enjoying my morning Pepsi, catching up on my favorite blogs, email, etc. Morning snuggles with my boys, running to the bank with my boys for company, making car payments with Mitch on his lunch break, quick bite to eat. {Mitch wasn't a fan of the no TV while he was home... I turned it off as he returned to work} Reading my new glamour, falling asleep with my boys, waking up for their potty break, checking on dinner, crawling back into bed. More napping. Waking up to Mitch's call. Off early. Only to go back for overtime at 7. Drink run, followed by delicious BBQ pulled pork sandwiches :) I tuned the TV out as Mitch relaxed for awhile. Now I'm enjoying a quiet evening to myself with the boys of course.

Do you know what I learned from my day of quiet?? It's that I don't do this nearly often enough. Perhaps I'll be better at turning off the TV and doing something else. Focusing on quality time as a couple, re-reading my favorite book 'Merle's Door' {I highly recommend it} plus other good books and resting my mind from mindless TV drivel.

The plus side from today:: I feel much more rested and more relaxed.

You should try it some time!
